Days Go By

I've been waiting to put up pictures with this post, but I haven't taken any all week. What have I been up to? Well, I've been spending some time with Mark. He's a pretty cool guy. On Sunday evening, Natalie and I went over to his house and played some board games. Tonight he's making an Argentine dinner for me. I'm way excited! It should be really good. Saturday morning we're going to the wind caves. I know, I know; it's General Conference. Don't worry; he's recording what we miss and we'll watch it on Sunday.

Changing tracks now, my best friend, Steph, is trying out for a dance company tonight. It would be great if anyone who reads this would pray for her. She is an amazing person and deserves to have some fun in her life!

Hopefully I'll have some more fun pictures by the end of the week. Have a good one!

Another Quickie

Here are some pictures of the things Jeff brought home for me from Washington. What a sweet kid!

Just a Quickie

Yesterday I woke up and it was snowing. This is me looking out the window dressed in black, mourning the loss of my soul.

This morning I woke up and went to babysit Wyatt! He's such a cute baby. We had a great time. Thanks to Tracy for calling me to babysit!

Well, I've got to run for now; Jeff's home from Washington so Jodie and I are going to go visit. Have a great day!

Great Date!

The roommates did it once again! We had another great time. Way to be!
We had tonight what we like to call a "roommate date", where the roommates do a group date. Sometimes we find a group of boy roommates to go on the date with, but for tonight we found our own dates... Kind of. So really that means that two of us were on a blind date, set up by other people. Long story short, we had a hard time finding people to take last minute since most of our dates backed out without much notice, but by 5:30 we'd found them. (We were planning on starting the date at 6:00, fyi.)

For the date we had a progressive dinner at different restaurants around town. We drew out of a hat in which order we'd eat (dinner, appetizers, dessert, and drinks) and at which restaurants we'd go to for each item. For dinner (which was first) we ended up at Panda Express. Next came dessert at McDonald's. Drinks were at Pita Pit (which became a whole story in and of itself, but we tipped and got a dance from one of the workers). The plan was to go to a sandwich/pizza place for the appetizer to finish off, but we were all full and ended up playing Catch Phrase back at the apartment. (Don't worry; the girls really won. The guys had to cheat to win the second game.)

These are each of the couples at our last stop: Pita Pit.

Definitely a recommended activity!

A Little Late Night Fun

Well, by the end of today it was still raining. I watched a movie with Tina (new nickname for roommate) and Josh, but afterward I got a little hyper. Well, last week there was an 80's dance and Tina bought this amazing shirt and altered it a little. Here's how it looks on me! (Special thanks to lil' sis' for the shorts - powell ones, Tina for the shirt, and Nasty for the wicked shoes!)

Isn't college fun?!

Nasty doesn't like the fridge tonight.

Tut Tut Looks Like Rain!

After the stress of my classes were over and most of my homework was done, I looked out the window and realized it was raining. This summer I went puddle jumping with my old roommate Shelby, but she moved to Idaho. My roommates now were all "too busy" to go (their excuses were good, though) so I had Josh come play! Josh is a friend in my ward. We were only outside for 15-20 minutes and check this out!

We were drenched! So, you can't really tell in the picture, but you could ask Michelle about it! As we drank hot chocolate in my apartment we dripped puddles onto the kitchen floor. It was way fun. I love the rain!

Roommate Fun!

Tonight we went to Cafe Rio because we wanted to eat somewhat healthy and none of us felt like cooking. It was exciting! But first, get a load of this:

This is us at Cafe Rio. Some girls who thought my hair was awesome took our picture. From left to right, these are the roommates: Me, Jodie, Natalie and Michelle. We have so much fun together!

Not much else exciting today.

Everyday Heroes

On a lighter note, there was a boy on the bus who risked his arm to save a tree. Not kidding you. The back door of the shuttle caught a tree in it when it closed, so the driver opened the door, and this guy risked his arm to make sure the tree made it out alive. It was pretty entertaining for all those who were on the bus.

On a not so much lighter note, I want to thank those who are serving our country. As everyone knows, today marks 5 years since the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Centers. I remember that awful day. Being in 9th grade, I didn't understand what was really happening, but I knew it couldn't be good. Once I realized what the Trade Centers were and who blew them up, my heart went out to those inside. I remember the newscast when the WTC crumbled to the ground. The one year anniversary at Hunter High was emotional as well. We had an assembly on the football field where we let up hundreds of balloons in memory of 9/11. On September 11, 2001, the United States became reunited.
Today the United States are back in old habits of radicalism and prejudice. No longer do we mourn for those who lost their lives in the attacks on Pearl Harbor, the WTC, the Pentagon, and many other incidents. No longer do we pull together with all of our might to stop terrorism. It is now, "Let our troops go! They're useless!" and "We are self-reliant and can't afford to help anyone else!" My question is this: do these people realize how many times we have been helped by other countries? Do they realize that all humans are the same species and God loves us all? Apparently not. I say, "Hold our flag and our country high. Help all those who need it." So what if we don't have all the resources? Encourage other countries to pitch in some more too. Maybe if we all work together, we can overcome war and hatred. We can become friends, creating pathways to success for all those who want to take it. We can be together as one.
I thank God for the knowledge I have that one day there will be peace on earth. One day we will live to serve other people, and nobody will be without. Poverty and hunger won't exist. Children will play in a den of lions without a trace of fear. In fact, fear will not exist, because love cannot abide in fear. I pray for those who lost their lives 5 years ago today. I pray for their families and for all those personally affected by the tragedies that have occured because of this war. I pray that America will have a change of heart and begin reaching out to one another again, not just in times of need, but at all times. I pray that God will not be omitted from our society because without Him we will fail.

Party Time!

The roommates and I decided to throw a "sweet swap" the other day. A sweet swap is exactly what it says. Everyone brings a sweet and swaps them, so you get to eat a bit of everything. However, it didn't turn out. We had about two people show up. It was still fun, though! We had a chocolate fountain (which was the biggest pain ever, but tasted good anyways). I hooked up my awesome speakers (thanks Mom) to Natalie's computer to play some tunes and we spent the time pigging out and dancing. It was a good time!

This is some random kid eating a chocolate covered grape. He was one of the two that showed up.

And here is something my Mother is not proud of, but excites me. I forced my hair into a ponytail! It's been a while, and for those who have seen me lately, my hair isn't exactly long. It was an exciting day for me. Plus, I was happy all day which made it a good one. (Excuse the sleeveless shirt; I was getting ready in the morning and didn't think about it. My longsleeve was black, and I didn't want hair all over it.)

B-Unit!

B-Unit is a reference to where I live, in case anyone was wondering.

I had a great Labor Day weekend this year, although I didn't go boating or camping or any of the like things. Saturday wasn't anything too eventful, but we (as in Jeff, Natalie and I) got the apartment very clean. It was nice to come home to a clean place on Saturday after work. Sunday was excellent, and I really love my ward. I recieved a new calling, and got released from my calling as an Activities Committee Co-Chair. Any guesses from people whom I haven't already told? Let's just say it suits me.

Labor Day had to have been the most fun. After careful consideration on Sunday, Natalie and I decided we would go to Paradise to join Jeff's family for breakfast, then have a picnic later. Breakfast was delicious. After that, I worked on some homework while everyone else visited and enjoyed each other's company. Then came time for the picnic! Just now I was reminded of the Teddy Bear Picnic song. I wish I still knew the words. That was a cool song.

Anyways, Natalie and Jeff packed a lunch while I worked on my homework. We then put the food in a picnic basket and attached it to the 4-wheeler (as shown) and headed up to Porcupine Dam. I have no idea where that is, but I guess it's a good fishing spot because there were a lot of people. Lunch was delicious.

After we ate, I decided I wanted to go wading in the streamlet and Natalie came with me. Before I knew it, we were up to our knees in mud! Keep in mind I still had to work in a couple hours, so this was almost turning into a problem. However, Natalie and I had a great time in the mud. On our way back across the streamlet both of my legs got stuck and Natalie wouldn't help me, so I fell backwards and landed in the water up a little past my waist. It was hilarious! And cold. With Nat and I soaking wet, we rode the 4-wheeler back to Paradise to wash up and head back to Logan. It was quite exciting!

Finally back, and still soaking wet!

Other random things:

Jeff models an old shirt. He turns in his mission papers this week.

Natalie and Jeff kill annoying magpies.

Natalie had a great birthday, and we roommates threw an awesome party for her! There were tons of people here and only a couple of them (other than the 4 roommates) were girls. It's pretty cool. That's all for now!
